Workforce professionals are aware that the current Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA) is in the process of change. Amendments, enactments, and repealed references are noted so a bit of mixed messages, however, yes my friends, change is ahead! Regardless of the references made, the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (aka WIOA) date of enactment is scheduled for July 1, 2015.
The vision, mission and opening statements of WIOA is “To amend the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 to strengthen the United States workforce development system through innovation and alignment and improvement of, employment, training, and education programs in the United States, and to promote individual and national economic growth, and for other purposes.” The opening statement is exciting! Launchpad software application(s) offers the tools for the key points mentioned! In my opinion, the opening takeaway is the need for collaboration, innovation, technology, alignment and improvement.
